Privacy Policy

Who we are

MoodCast is a personal mood-tracking app that helps you log how you feel and see the patterns behind it. It is operated by the developer of the MoodCast project as a personal indie project. "We", "us", and "our" in this policy refer to the MoodCast developer.

What data we collect

We collect only what's needed to run the app:

• Account info: your email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google profile picture URL.
• App content: the mood check-ins you log — mood level, four well-being metrics (energy, focus, sleep, hydration), the activity tags you select, and any optional note you write.
• Device + app activity: notification preferences, check-in interval, quiet hours, and onboarding state stored on your device.

We do not collect location, contacts, photos, or any other device data.

How we use it

• Authentication: to sign you in and tie check-ins to your account.
• Sync: so the same check-ins appear when you sign in from another device.
• Insights: to compute trends, correlations, and streaks from your own data on your own device.
• Reminders: local notifications scheduled on your device (we don't send push notifications from a server).

Who else sees it

Firebase (Google): we use Firebase Authentication and Realtime Database as the backend. Your account info and check-ins are stored on Firebase servers governed by Google's privacy policy.

RevenueCat: if you subscribe, payment status is processed by RevenueCat to unlock Premium features. We never see your card information; that's handled by the Play Store directly.

AdMob (Google): free users see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use advertising identifiers to serve relevant ads. Premium subscribers see no ads, and no ad-related identifiers are sent for them.

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share it with third parties beyond what's listed here.

Your controls

• Edit or delete any check-in from inside the app.
• Sign out from Settings → Account → Log out to clear your local session.
• Delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account inside the app, OR request deletion via the account-deletion page. This permanently removes your authentication record and all your check-ins from Firebase. There is no recovery.

Data retention

Your data stays in Firebase as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your records are removed immediately. Backups managed by Google may retain data for up to 30 days before final purge.

Children

MoodCast is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this version went into effect.
